Seven months.
York County Rising is seven months old! Which also means we’re entering our 7th straight month of ongoing demonstrations, rapid response, and community actions as a group.
For the first half of this year, we’ve been protesting at least every two weeks. We’ve held a half dozen Community Meetings to discuss local issues. We organized Pride Prom for queer youth. We’re working on a hush-hush project right now for July 4th.
And we’ve also been sending out rapid response teams to protest at the offices of our representatives, to respond to ICE, to show up at Council and School Board meetings, to coalition in Columbia with activists from around the state.
We’ve shared resources and trainings and phone banked and text banked and so much more. And we’ve met so many wonderful community members who also felt alone here in our heavily-gerrymandered and suppressed state.
Through it all, our North Star has been our belief in you. That our community is worth fighting for, and we get through this together.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for joining us. Thank you for taking the actions you can take and doing your part in this movement against oligarchy, authoritarianism, hate, and injustice.

These days feel so heavy and the news can be overwhelming, and it can be tempting to fall into despair.
Because there is still so much work to be done.
We’ve said all along that protests are simply one tool in this fight. Below, you’ll see a look ahead at the next month of planned actions. We may not continue at that cadence after these planned events. We are currently evaluating our options and how to best direct momentum and energy going forward. Our team of merry-but-furious volunteers will continue to do the things we can do. And we’re not going anywhere — this regime isn’t letting up and neither are we — but you’ll likely see some changes so be on the lookout for that.
