Step 1
For each representative, save the phone number for their DC office and their regional office. We recommend putting this number in your phone for easy use, but you can also return to this article as-needed.
LINDSEY GRAHAM
Washington, DC — (202) 224-5972
Midlands SC — (803) 933-0112
TIM SCOTT
Washington, DC — (202) 224-6121
Midlands SC — (803) 771-6112
RALPH NORMAN
Washington, DC — (202) 225-5501
Rock Hill, SC — (803) 327-1114
Step 2
Call each number and relay your concerns. You can use the sample script below. The staffer will log your call and likely ask for your name and address to prove you are a constituent. Staffers log these calls to gauge how constituents feel about certain topics. Congress members then use certain models to gauge public sentiment about those issues. For example: One phone call = 100 more people who likely feel that way.
Sample Script
Be sure to emphasize how the problem affects you or other constituents directly.
Hello, I am [Name] from [City/State]. I’m one of [Congress Member’s Name] constituents.
I’m concerned about ___________. [examples: Elon Musk’s illegal access to the US treasury system, other federal agency infrastructure, his general level of influence and access to the US government as an unelected private individual and billionaire who has nothing in common with me, etc.]
The reason I’m concerned is because ___________. [example: I’m worried he will abuse his access in a way that benefits him financially and damages federal programs I benefit from.]
As a government contractor, billionnaire, and unelected individual, it seems like his access to US government systems presents a massive conflict of interest.
Step 3
Make a plan to call each number regularly. For some folks, that will mean calling all six numbers daily. Others might call weekly or every other week. You could also split it up and call one Congress member per day. Find a schedule that works for you, and apply the pressure.
