Who is York County Rising?

We are progressive organizers, activists, advocates, and concerned neighbors in York County, SC.

We are all volunteers. There are 3 primary organizers who facilitate, but there are about a dozen volunteers working across various teams.

We know the only way through it together. And we know we are worth fighting for.

You can learn more about us on our about page.

Who are you affiliated with?

York County Rising is unaffiliated, but we partner with both local and national organizations as we work toward a robust coalition.

Nationally, we most frequently partner with MoveOn, Working Families, and 50501. Our primary facilitators also organize with these groups outside of York County Rising, and so it’s a natural partnership.

What is the goal of York County Rising?

We are pro-liberation and united in the fight against authoritarianism and oligarchy. We are organizing for a more just and kind world for all of us.

How do I get involved?

    • Share our public posts and help spread the word

  • Become a volunteer

    • Help with writing copy (Substack, social media, press releases)

    • Help with outreach (press, community organizations, coalition partners)

    • Help manage social media accounts (posting, moderating, updating info)

    • Help run events (as a marshal trained in de-escalation and protest safety, a medic, a photographer, etc)

    • and more…

However you want to get involved, there’s a seat at this table for you. You can find all of our links here. Join us on Discord. Subscribe here on Substack.

Why aren’t we all in Columbia/DC/other place that I have a question about?

In a word: accessibility. Not everyone is able to travel hours away from home. We understand the desire to see millions of people in one place. We hope to see that too! Right now, we are focused on organizing in our local community.
