🗣️Monday, August 11
Bless her heart. Not only is Nancy Mace not the answer for South Carolina, her rhetoric and policy choices are a clear and present danger to our LGBTQIA+ community, our children, our elders, and all of our futures.
Now, Mace wants to be our Governor. The attention-seeking representative from the Lowcountry will be in Rock Hill Monday night for her “Mother of All Town Halls” tour — gross — and we’ll be there to greet her.
Join us to march to her event location:
Meet at The Mercantile no later than 5:30 p.m.Or meet up with us to protest outside her Town Hall:
Outside Hoppin Rock Hill at 110 Southern Street.
We know Mace likes to claim she’s being attacked and make up stories, so let’s make this super duper extra clear: We will be exercising our Constitutionally-protected First Amendment right, which guarantees the freedom of speech and the right to assemble peacefully. We are holding a nonviolent protest on public property, where we have the right to assemble and speak truth to power.
🙅Protest Cadence Change
Last month, we let you know there were some changes coming to our protests. The time has come for us to make those changes. This past Saturday was our last biweekly demonstration. We will continue to participate in national mobilizations (see next section).
This isn’t us letting up pressure — this is us redirecting some of our organizing energy to do more in the community and also have bandwidth to do things like tomorrow’s pop up protest against Mace and our run-in at Norman’s office.
If you want protests to continue at the same or increased cadence but need guidance on how to make it happen, please email Organizers@YorkCoRising.com. We’re happy to offer support and whatever guidance we can.
🗓️ Next Protest: 9/1 #SolidaritySeptember
Workers Over Billionaires
This Labor Day we continue to push back against this regime, fighting for public schools over private profits, health care over hedge funds, shared prosperity over corporate politics.
Working people built this nation and we know how to take care of each other. We won’t back down — we will never stop fighting for our families and the rights and freedoms that ensure access to opportunity and a better life for all Americans. The billionaires’ time is up.
🧰 August Momentum-Building Actions
Momentum is building. Let’s keep up the pressure.
Thursday, Aug 14: #SocialSecurityStrong actions taking place around the country. There’s currently not a local action but you (yes, you!) can organize one!
(also) Thursday, Aug 14: Join the call with May Day Strong and coalition partners to hear about the upcoming 9/1 nationwide protest and how it fits into broader plans to build the grassroots power we need to build the world we deserve.
Saturday, Aug 16: Protect Our Checks rallies and protests to save Social Security. The closest event currently on the map is in Florence. You can also sign up to host one!
(also) Saturday, Aug 16: Texas is calling for a national day of action to fight the Trump takeover. Information and map is here.
Aug 21-27: People vs. Billionaires Week of Action. Planning is currently happening on the national and local level for this week of action, so be sure to check that link again as we get closer to the dates, and find actions you can take.
Friday, Aug 22: Postcards for Democracy with York County Rising in partnership with MoveOn. Speaking of actions you can take during the People vs. Billionaires Week of Action: Join us to help write messages to voters in key Republican districts to help raise awareness about the GOP’s big ugly trainwreck bill and inspire them to take action in their own interests. These voters are directly impacted by the cuts, and they could be the key to stop the MAGA movement from gaining more ground.
My advice is to wear non-political clothing so her people don’t prevent you from entering the townhall.
She sounds like are real loser!!! Good Luck convincing her to "tuck tail and run!"
