Friday, August 1: La Marcha De La Puebla: Heroes Not Villains + Anti-ICE Sick Out
We are proud to partner with La Cultura Del Mundo for La Marcha De La Puebla: Heroes Not Villains on August 1 to demonstrate support for immigrants who are being tormented by our current administration.
And, in solidarity with General Strike US and General Strike Carolinas, groups like York County Rising, 50501 South Carolina, 50501 North Carolina, ILM Action Network, and many more have joined the coalition organizing an Anti-ICE Sick Out.
This is the first wave of work stoppage as organizers around the country prepare for a longer nationwide strike. This single-day strike is a strategic action as we prepare for a larger General Strike in the future. Learn more about the Anti-ICE Sick Out.
Join us during for local action on August 1!
What’s a great use of your “sick” day? Taking action! You can use this day to call and email our reps, write post cards, and use other opportunities to make your voice heard.
From 1-3 p.m. on Aug 1, you can join York County Rising as we write post cards and letters to Ralph Norman and then hand deliver them to his office.
We’ll start upstairs at The Mercantile in Rock Hill to write, and then take our voices to the sidewalks as we walk to his office at 516 Oakland Avenue in Rock Hill. Bring your signs and your walking shoes!
Saturday, August 2: Rage Against the Regime
We refuse to let anger make us joyless, we refuse to allow grief to overwhelm us, we refuse to allow chaos to burn us out.
Instead, we come together with a shared purpose: To transform anger into action, harness the energy of collective resistance, and show the power of communities in the face of injustice and fascism.
Our anger is righteous. Our grief is holy. Our joy is strong enough to hold both. We are worth fighting for.
On Saturday, August 2, bring your anger, your grief, and your joy as we partner with 50501 to Rage Against the Regime.
We’ll be out on Dave Lyle between Main and White from 2-4 p.m. for this nationwide mobilization.
All are welcome, including children
There will be music and signs with words like “fuck”
FAQs and Protest Prep (from last month but still relevant)
The forecast currently calls for temps in the 80s. Prepare for the heat regardless.
We’ll be holding our regular food drive and also a school supplies drive to support the families and teachers here in our local community as they return to school.
Saturday, August 9: Demonstration
